I've done vanilla questing. I followed the quest lines around the world for the story. I've done fishing: spending hours to get food one can buy at the inn.To me Archeology combines the bad traits of fishing and vanilla questing.By the way: have a try at Archaeology with riding 225.

Ok, thx. :) I just got to farm a bit more then hehe. I almost got as many nelf as you already...so it got to pop soon that damn trinket! Hehe
I like it a lot. It's completely RNG, can be very useful, but there is no immediate gratification. Closest feeling I can relate it to was playing Civilisation games and their 'Just one more turn' addiction. Also, since there are epics and they are not easy to get, there is also a huge number of 'I want it NOW' type whiners. With the dissapointment of too fast leveling, I really hope Blizz doesn't speed up this too. I'd like to have something to do next month instead of taking a break till we start raiding.Edit: Also, I like how I can dig a site, sit on a flight path and go do something else, perfect when I'm making lunch.
Trollface.jpgProblem, Wowhead? After 100, Archaeology got kind of fun. My trick has been using flight paths to get to the next general area where I'll be digging, and AFK'ing during that time, or simply watching TV the entire time.Roleplaying it makes it a bit more fun, too, even if it's just you. Sometimes running into other players in your same dig site can bring about some fun and unexpected situations, if you're on an RP server.
Have Tol'vir sites spawnrate been improved? Got tons of them today compared to all other days.So far today I got 200 nelf, 120 Tol'vir and 50 fossils.
They could have add low level pickup binded green items for some little reward to do archeology while leveling. It's a real time sink for who's leveling to do archaeology. You could gaining XP, rep and gold much easier.
I surveyed one site. A single one, and swore 'never again'. Archaeology is a real time wasting waste of space.Cheers.
Pretty terrible. I hate it for all the same reasons I hate fishing.
The profession has tons of problems and very little rewards, yeah it's a secondary profession but Fishing and cooking are far more USEFUL than Archaeology. I really think that hoping Blizz will fix the problems is just not realistic, at the very least, I hope they will add more dig sites, 4 is just not enough, I got a mage so I can port between UC and Stonard, yet it's still too tedious. More site will at least gives us less traveling and more digging time, which will translate into getting those ( next to legendary) weapons faster.
I have to admit im pretty addicted to archaeology atm, it was the FIRST thing i did when i got cata. And i leveled to 85 pretty much entierly on archaeology, only completing the Vash'jir quest chain. I'm a sucker for pets, mount and other random things that make people go 'oh where did you get that?'. And Arch feeds that. I'm also some what of an achievement collector, and so im going for the 'proffesor' title, and have already obtained several of the other achieves. As for tips: A basic one would be when first starting save all your fragments till you reach about 70 skill (when the dig spawns grey out) its will be slower to start with, but boost you towards the end. Same with the the Keystones, i generally try to save them for the bigger fragment grinds.
